Three Former Chiefs on NHL Opening Night Rosters, More on Taxi Squads

January 13, 2021 - Spokane, Wash. - Six former Spokane Chiefs are listed on NHL Opening Night rosters or taxi squads for the 2020-21 regular season, as the league begins play on Wednesday night. Leading the way is defenseman Jared Spurgeon (2005-10), who was named captain of the Minnesota Wild earlier this month. Forward Kailer Yamamoto (2014-18) will open with the Edmonton Oilers and two-time Chiefs captain Ty Smith (2016-20) has earned his spot on an NHL roster for the first time as he will begin the season with the New Jersey Devils. ... Chiefs Announce Player Development Updates for 2020-21 Season

January 13, 2021 - Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced on Wednesday multiple player development updates for the 2020-21 season. Forwards Adam Beckman and Jack Finley will begin the 2020-21 regular season in the American Hockey League. Beckman, a Minnesota Wild prospect (2019 3rd round), will report to the Iowa Wild. Parík Perfect as Czechs Blank Russians at World Juniors

December 28, 2020 - Edmonton -- Spokane Chiefs goaltender Lukáš Pařík was perfect on Sunday night in Edmonton, turning aside all 30 shots faced as Team Czech Republic upset the powerful Russians, 2-0 in IIHF World Junior Championship group play. It was the first shutout of Team Russia at World Juniors since 2000. December 17, 2020 - Spokane, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced on Thursday that overage players Michael King and James Porter, Jr. have been released and cleared WHL waivers. "We are very grateful to both Michael and James for their contributions to our organization," said general manager Scott Carter.
