Shawn Szydlowski Announces Retirement
January 7, 2025 - Fort Wayne, IN - After 14 seasons as a pro and 10 with the Fort Wayne Komets, forward Shawn Szydlowski has announced his retirement from professional hockey. Szydlowski, 34, played his first pro game in 2011 with the Portland Pirates of the AHL. After stints with Rochester (AHL), Gwinnett (ECHL), and Fort Worth (CHL), he was assigned to Komets from the Buffalo Sabers, making his Memorial Coliseum debut on October 23, 2013. Steelheads Acquire Andrei Bakanov from Fort Wayne Komets
January 7, 2025 - BOISE, ID - The Idaho Steelheads (@Steelheads), proud ECHL (@ECHL) affiliate of the Dallas Stars (@DallasStars), and Steelheads Head Coach & Director of Hockey Operations Everett Sheen announced today that the club has acquired forward Andrei Bakanov from the Fort Wayne Komets for cash considerations. Bakanov, 22, is in his fifth professional season, third in the ECHL as he has skated in 124 ECHL games collecting 39 points (19G, 20A). January 7, 2025 - Bloomington, Ill. - Bloomington Bison General Manager and Head Coach, Phillip Barski, announced today the team has signed goaltender Brian Wilson to a standard ECHL player contract. Wilson, 28, has appeared in 10 SPHL games this season with the Huntsville Havoc posting a 6-2-2 record with a .929 save percentage and a 2.48 goals against average. January 7, 2025 - NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Washington Capitals and AHL's Hershey Bears, announced today that forward Zac Funk has been reassigned by Washington from Hershey to South Carolina. Funk, 21, is in his first season of professional hockey.
